Jo
Jo joined PXtech’s IT help desk in 2007, having previously worked at BT on the
IT Support Desk at a BT Call Centre. In 2008 she joined PXtech’s Development Department
as a trainee developer.
Jo quickly gained a high level of competence in core Microsoft technologies including
C# 4, ASP.NET 4, SSAS and SSRS. Her career progressed rapidly from trainee to lead
developer. She has been the prime developer on a wide range of projects. These have
included a Business Intelligence solution for a frozen yoghurt restaurant retailer
and an International burger chain.
Jo was lead developer for the Realview product, a Business Intelligence tool
used by Schools and local Authorities to monitor pupil attendance, assessment and
examinations data.
In addition to her technical work, Jo works closely with PXtech’s commercial
partners and customers on design and implementation.
Jo says: “I enjoy working at PXtech and believe that one of the Company’s strengths
is that our views are valued and we are empowered to contribute ideas and to implement
change”.
Rob
Rob joined PXtech in 2006 as a Trainee Installation and Support Engineer. Rob
had studied IT at A-Level and this was his first IT job.
After 18 months Rob was promoted to a 3rd Line Technical Support position. This
involved liaising with the Helpdesk and Development teams to resolve complex client
support incidents.
Rob now has operational responsibility for PXtech’s hosting environment and IT
infrastructure (supporting 3000 users across the UK and Europe and a critical component
for PXtech’s SaaS Business Intelligence tool, PXportal).
Rob has gained a high level of expertise in technologies including IP Networking,
Windows Server 2008, VMware ESX, EMC SANs, Microsoft ISA Server, Microsoft IIS and
ASP.NET hosting.
Rob has additionally overseen IT infrastructure projects for major customers. This
has included the design and implementation of the infrastructure for the hosting
of a large scale Business Intelligence solution supporting 10,000 client sites.
Rob says: “Since joining PXtech I have been constantly presented with new challenges
that have allowed me to rapidly develop my technical knowledge”.
Simon
On graduating from Nottingham University Simon joined PA Consulting Group where
he gained experience in developing large scale applications based on the Microsoft
.NET toolset.
Simon joined PXtech in November 2009 as a senior developer. At PXtech, Simon was
instrumental in driving the adoption of some new technologies (such as ASP.NET 4
and jQuery). Simon has also bolstered PXtech’s Business Intelligence capabilities
using tools such as Microsoft SSAS.
In 2010/2011 Simon led a high profile project to rollout the PXportal Business Intelligence
solution to the largest single-brand restaurant chain globally.
Simon states: “Since joining PXtech I have been given the opportunity to develop
my commercial awareness alongside my technical skills, this has given me the opportunity
be more innovative, to take more responsibility for projects and develop my career”.
Carl
Carl was looking for an opportunity to start a career in I.T. having studied
Electronics at College. Carl joined PXtech in 2006 as a Trainee Installation
Engineer. Carl soon showed a flair for installation and problem solving and quickly
progressed to Lead Installation Engineer.
Carl now manages PXtech’s Engineering Team. This team installs and supports over
1,500 restaurants and retail outlets throughout the UK and Europe as well as supplying
configured systems to PXtech’s growing number of partners. In addition to managing
the team he is responsible for Logistics, Stock Control, Procurement and System
Builds.
Carl still has a hands on role and continues to develop his technical skills
which requires an in depth knowledge of the hardware, software and networks.
Carl states: “The role requires me to stay on top of the technologies and the
constantly changing priorities to meet the needs of our customers and partners.
It is an exciting and demanding job and it certainly keeps me on my toes”.
